How important is the security of my water? The Red Cross and FEMA both recommend only three ways to treat your water in the event of an emergency like Hurricane Katrina: boil it, chemically disinfect it, or distill it. HEALTH GOAL equal to the maximum level of a contaminant which
is NOT EXPECTED to cause any adverse health effects over a lifetime
of exposure and includes a margin of safety.TT mean
Treatment Technique required. Instead of a contaminant
having an MCL or MCLG, the EPA can adopt a Primary Drinking Water
Regulation that requires the use of a specific treatment method
to be used to control a contaminant. The Agency has this option
when it is not technically or economically feasible to determine
